The agreement

Using RenderNode means accepting these terms and the privacy policy. If you accept on behalf of a company, you confirm you may bind it. The service is business software and is not offered to anyone under 18.

The service is in alpha

RenderNode is early software. Features change, break and disappear. We publish no service-level agreement, promise no uptime, and may suspend or discontinue any part of the service. Do not make a deadline depend on it without a conversation with us first.

What the words mean

A few terms carry specific meanings throughout.

• Input — a sketch, photograph, material sample or prompt you provide
• Output — an image the service produces from your input
• Credits — the unit we bill in; a render costs between five and ten of them, charged per variation
• Asset — anything stored in your library, including inputs, outputs and materials

Rights in the output

On a paid plan we assign you every right we hold in the outputs you generate, and grant you a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use them for any purpose, commercial included. On the free plan we keep the output, watermark it, and licence it to you for non-commercial use with a credit line.

• Copyright law in the United States does not currently recognise an image generated without meaningful human authorship as a copyrightable work; a prompt alone is generally not enough
• We therefore assign what rights exist and licence the rest, so your position does not depend on how that law settles
• Where your own creative contribution is substantial, any copyright arising from it is yours and we make no claim to it
• Full detail sits in the licensing policy, which forms part of these terms

Rights in what you upload

Your inputs remain yours. We take a narrow licence to process them — to produce your render, to operate the service, to investigate abuse and to diagnose faults. That licence covers nothing else.

• We never use an input to train a model, on any plan
• We never publish, display or share your work without your written permission
• You confirm you hold the rights, licences, consents and releases for everything you upload

Assets shared inside the platform

Where you share an asset with another user or an organisation, you keep every right in it. The recipient receives a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use it solely within RenderNode, and solely to produce work under their own permitted use. That licence ends when you withdraw the asset or their access is revoked.

What you may not do

These restrictions hold on every plan, and breaking them ends your licence to the work involved.

• No uploading content you lack the rights to, including third-party trademarks, copyrighted characters and the likeness of an identifiable person
• No generating sexual content involving minors, content that incites violence, or content designed to deceive about a real person or event
• No reselling outputs as stock imagery, templates or any other asset library
• No using outputs to train, fine-tune or evaluate a machine-learning model
• No use in a safety-critical context — medical, automotive, aviation or similar — where an inaccurate image could cause harm

Third parties that process your work

Producing a render means sending your input to a model provider. We name every one of them in the privacy policy, and we contract with each to prohibit training on your data. We remain responsible to you for their handling of it.

Credits, billing and refunds

Plans bill monthly or annually in advance. Credits are the unit of consumption and are neither transferable nor redeemable for cash.

• Unused monthly credits expire at the end of the period, except on Business, which carries them thirty days
• A failed or reversed payment suspends the account until it is settled
• A chargeback or refund ends the rights assigned for the renders it covers
• We may change pricing with thirty days' notice; a change never applies to a period already paid for

Outputs are generated by AI

Every image the service produces is generated by a machine-learning model. Where you publish one, some jurisdictions require you to say so — the European Union's AI Act is the clearest example. Meeting that obligation is yours, and free-plan watermarks exist partly to help.

What we do not promise

Outputs are provided as they are. We do not warrant that an output is original, that it does not resemble existing work, that it is free of third-party claims, or that it is fit for any particular purpose. We provide no indemnity during alpha. Check clearance before you publish.

Limit of our liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability arising from the service is capped at what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for lost profit, lost data or any indirect loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Ending the agreement

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that does not pay, or where we must act to protect the service or another customer. Rights already assigned in paid renders survive; the free-plan licence does not.

Changes to these terms

We will update this page when the terms change, and move the effective date at the top. Continuing to use the service after a change means accepting it. A change that materially reduces your rights gets thirty days' notice by email.
